Summary A project is really an assembly of one or more component jobs. These jobs might be individual units, or parts of a larger job, a holding non-profit job for common overheads such as site works, an overheads job or almost anything else. Each job is a container for costs and/or income for the larger project
Job Creation and estimating is done in exactly the same way as previously. This system is a way of extending, combining, analysing and presenting those results.
The aim of the module is to assemble bills into projects and assess the financial viability of the project using detailed cash flow, funding and other financial analysis.
Details
The system links with and builds on the Job Control system, but is independent of it.
Jobs are displayed in a left panel grid. Multiple Jobs can be selected and saved as a Project. In this case, reports cover all selected jobs (that is, the project) amalgamated.
The upper right panel displays contract amounts and start and finish dates.
Below, an Index Tab holds 4 tabs
3 Modes are available: Own funds: No interest allowances are made Overdraft: All income or expenses immediately increase/decrease borrowings Drawdown: When exposure (expenditure-income-borrowings) reaches a set figure, a drawdown in set units is triggered. Conversely, repayments can also be triggered automatically An option is also given to add interest onto borrowings instead of paying it on the due dates
Expenditure is built up from Cost Centre budgets by running the Build Expenses menu option. Systems running Job Control have finish dates automatically populated. Without Job Control, they are either manually entered or you can use the Set Dates and Adjust Dates menu options. Pay Dates are populated by running Set Pay Dates menu option. The system uses the Cost Centre default pay strategy to calculate dates
Income is built up from Milestones by running the Build Income menu option. Systems running Job Control have finish dates automatically populated. Without Job Control, they are either manually entered or you can use the Set Dates and Adjust Dates menu options. Pay Dates are populated by running Set Pay Dates menu option. The system uses the milestone pay strategy to calculate dates
How a project runs
Set your start and end dates either here or in the Jobs screen. If you have thereby altered the job duration, and your job contains items that are priced "each day", "each week" or "each month", you should select Reprice Job Select Build Income and Build Expenses from the Edit menu Expense items come from the bill, and income items come from the selected milestones tab applied to the Contract price field. Set finish dates against each expense and income item. You can use "Adjust Dates" or "Set Dates" from the Edit menu to facilitate this. Any items whose comments "spread weekly" or "spread monthly" have their income/expenses spread over the life of the job
Set your start date either here or in the Jobs screen or Job Control module. If you have thereby altered the job duration, and your job contains items that are priced "each day", "each week" or "each month", you should select Reprice Job Enter Job Control Select a template for each job, then REFRESH Return to DBW32 (or you can run Feasibility study from Job Control)
