Fixed Position Format

Top  Previous  Next

An ASCII format where the same fields have the same position on each line. When selected the upper centre panel becomes visible

Fixed Position Format refers to the position of the characters in a file, in which each item in a field has the same starting position. (in other words, the text lines up).

For Databuild to read this file, and to populate the table with the correct value for each field, you need to specify the starting position of each field entry. Do this by quoting the number of characters to be read before this point. Use the counter at the top of the text box to read this number.
