Installation is rather simple:
Insert the CD
Install products will take you into a menu which will allow you to select which version of Databuild you wish to install.
From here you select which product you wish to install. If you're updating your version, ensure you know where the program is currently located to update correctly. This information can obtained by going to the Help menu and choosing about Databuild.
The .exe file path shows you where the program is currently installed.
Once the correct location is selected proceed with the installation. If the installation is a brand new installation, a registration screen will prompt you for a response code when you first load the program.
However, in networked installations, you must decide where to install it
Basically there are two choices:
| • | Install it on each workstation |
For: Can still run when server is down
Less traffic on Server and Netware
| • | Install it on the Server |
For: Easier to install and update
All users run the same version, reports
The "right" choice depends on a myriad of factors: Number of workstations, relative quality of workstations and server, Database format (Access vs SQL Server), remote access requirements, number of companies, security implications etc.
