Text Frames

A text frame is a rectangle that can be filled with text or images just like the main document.

 

The advantage is that the text frames can be placed anywhere on the page you desire, and the contents will not spill over or force following text to move down.

 

Text Frames can contain text, graphics, tables, other frames, objects etc, in fact anything in the main document. They may be used in Headers and Footers

 

Text Frames have made Databuild's Fixed Position Layouts obsolete, and these are being phased out.

 

To create a Text Frame, select Insert/Text Frame from the menu or press the text frame button (Transfer ) on the toolbar. The frame can then be moved or sized by clicking on a corner.

 

To set further properties, right click on the frame border or select Format/Text Frame from the menu bar. This Loads a dialog box with 3 tabs:

This tab sets

Wrapping Style
Position Style. Frames can be set in a fixed position, or can be set relative to preceeding text in a document or paragraph
Horizontal and Vertical Alignment

The size of the frame
The scale of the frame. Use this to increase or decrease size by a percentage
Locking options

Background colour
Border width (and a checkbox to hide it)
Internal margins
