It helps to understand the "big picture" to know just where and what data is stored
The application The application files (DBW220.exe, DBWJCADO.exe and DBWFrontEnd.exe) can be either local or on a server. If you are running in hub mode, you need the relevant startup programs (StartupDB.exe, StartupJC.exe orStartupDB.exe respectively ) in the same folder as the main application.
Licence file if you are running in hub mode, you need a single licence file (DBWHUB.LIC) in the same folder as the hub application. Otherwise, you need a separate licence file (DBW32.LIC) in the same folder as the application exe.
The system database(s) hold non Job-based data such as price lists, supplier details etc. System databases can be shared with other companies.
System databases are quite complex. For full details, print a database report from Setup/Databases
The job database(s) hold data specific to that company such as Job Details, Transactions, Quantities. Job Databases cannot be shared with other companies To reduce the size of job databases, You can split them in two by separating the transactions into a transaction database. This can be important if you are using large Access databases. Once again, this database may not be shared with another company.

Reference Database Database ships with a reference database (dblayout.mdb) which is installed into the application folder. This database ensures your databases are up to date and is used to create new databases
Hub Database When running in hub mode, this database about what seats and users are and have been using the system. It sets and controls the ini files and common databases used by all users |
