Workup Text

Top  Previous  Next

Each item has a workup text attached.

The description appears below items in Bills and purchase orders.

Any text following [Hide] is suppressed from printing.

The text may contain Text Variables which are substituted for their corresponding values before printing.

If the parent item has a unit with a calculation routine of lineal, area, or volume the system will scan the text to read quantities in the corresponding format as created in Workups. If found the system will over-ride the item's quantity.

The calculation of quantities from workup text is based on the Calculation Routine of the units of the current item:

Lineal

Searches for  "/" with a valid number both before and after

The searches for "Lin" with a valid number before

No limit to the number of entries per line

example: 12/5.4   27 lin m

Area

Searches for  "X" with a valid number both before and after

The searches for "OFF" with a valid number before

A limit of one entry per line

example:   2400 x 3600  12 OFF

          1800 x 3600  20 OFF

Volume

Searches for  "X" with a valid number both before and after

Searches for  a second "X" with a valid number  after

The searches for "OFF" with a valid number before

A limit of one entry per line

example:   2400 x 3600 x 600  12 OFF

          1800 x 3600 x 600  20 OFF

Volume (Timber)

Searches for  "X" with a valid number (in millimetres) both before and after

This then becomes the section size. The routine then follows the same rules as lineal

You can only have one section assignment on a line, but you can have multiple lengths

example: 200x38 12/5.4   27 lin m

        250x50

        2/3.6  12/5.1

All other routines

Searches for  "Quantity =" with a valid number after

Notes

All searches are case insensitive

There is no real limit to the number of lines

If the number has a suffix of "mm", the units are assumed to be millimetres

If the number has a suffix of "m", the units are assumed to be metres

If the number has a decimal point, the units are assumed to be metres

Otherwise, millimetres are assumed

You can have any amount of text around the quantities

example: Put 12/5.4 and 20 lineal metres in the back of the ute

Care should be taken to avoid workup text that could trick the system

example: The job is 1/2 finished

        Arrange in 4 lines
