Classroom training courses cater to all skill levels from beginner up to advanced and cover the various modules that make up Databuild. As new functionality in included in Databuild, we aim to have the most up to date versions available for each course.

Estimating – Introductory (E1001)

This course is aimed at those who are new to Databuild, or would like to go back and solidify current knowledge from the very start. Areas of focus include basic setup, bill of quantities and purchase orders in order to provide participants with the information necessary to set up and perform basic estimating functions which include setup, the creation of catalogue items, bill of quantity, understanding variations, basic rtf layouts, cost centres for estimating and purchase orders using the Databuild system.

This training is available on demand online. You do not need to have a Databuild system installed to complete this course. The training takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

Estimating – Intermediate (E2001)

The aim of this one day computer based course is to provided the information necessary to perform Intermediate Estimating tasks which include the use of Supplier Pricing features, Basic Recipes, Copy Quantities, Text Variables and Quantity Generators within the Databuild system.  

Introductory Estimating or minimum 6 months experience is a prerequisite of this course.

Topics and exercises include

E20.030A – Catalogue (Supplier Pricing)
Unit Objective: Learn to add new supplier prices, understand supplier price levels, setup and apply supplier area pricing, setup ambiguous supplier references and use of the Adjust Prices screen. 

E20.031A – Catalogue (Basic Recipes)
Unit Objective: Learn ability to create a simply recipe, apply a cost centre and a load to a recipe item and use workup text on recipe items. ‘Recipe’ is the Databuild term for build-up rates or components. 

E20.036A – BOQ (Basic Recipes)
Unit Objective: You will learn how to add a recipe to the BOQ.  You can speed up your estimating process by using recipes and processing them in the Bill of Quantities. You will also learn how to setup all the options to get the most out of the rapid estimating system. 

E20.032A – BOQ Advanced
Unit Objective: Learn how to get maximum use from the Bill of Quantities function. Re-pricing jobs, sorting data, locking prices, creating job snapshots (backups) and more. 

E20.033A – Copy Quantities
Unit Objective: Ability to copy quantities between jobs and copy selected cost centres only. Understanding the available options and how to copy data across multiple databases. Copy Quantities is often used when a company chooses to do all their quoting in a separate quote company with the final estimate being copied to the live company once the job contract is signed off. 

E20.034A – Variables & Generators
Unit Objective: You will learn to setup text variables, job variables and quantity generators.  These can be set on the catalogue items, recipes or within the BOQ workup.  The main purpose is to reduce time and automate processes to compile Bills of quantities. 

G20.066A – Variations
Unit Objective: This unit covers a comprehensive method of creating and tracking variations to the contract.  Learn how to quote variations in the Bill of Quantities, send documentation to the client, then approve, monitor and update variations to the job costing module. 

E20.035A - BOQ & Summary Reports
Unit Objective: Ability to use the Summary Report to reprice a BOQ, view summary with mark-ups and use options to customise your BOQ Report. 

G20.067A – Archiving
Unit Objective: Learn to archive Suppliers, Jobs and Cataglogue items. Once archived, these items will be supressed from screen view and reports giving performance benefits.               

G10.047A – RTF Layouts (Basic)
Unit Objective: Ability to create, format and save a basic RTF layout

G10.048A – Custom Reports (Basics)
Unit Objective: Ability to create, format, save and process a custom report using basic RTF layout.

 

Estimating – Advanced (E3001)

The aim of this one day computer based course is to provide participants with the information  necessary to perform Advanced Estimating Tasks within Databuild including the use of Catalogue Specification, Advanced Recipes, Splat, Macros, Workup Routines, Global Quantities, and BOQ Reports.

Estimating Intermediate is a prerequisite of this course.

Topics and exercises include

E30.039A – Catalogue Specification
Unit Objective: Ability to set up the Specification function. Learn to apply text variables to a specification, add pictures onto catalogue items and print specification reports.  

E30.040A – Catalogue (Recipe Advanced)
Unit Objective: This element shows how to assemble and apply formulae in recipes. To help automate the estimating process, you can employ formulae to perform calculations that would normally be done manually after the recipe has been exploded into the Bill of Quantities. 

E30.043A – SPLAT (Suppliers Price Link and Transfer)
Unit Objective: Learn to export selected catalogue items to excel using SPLAT. Use SPLAT to create new items and apply supplier price updates.  This function will help you automate your catalogue maintenance.

E30.041A – Macros
Unit Objective: Ability to create and run macros that help automate processes in the Bill of Quantities.

E30.037A – Workup Routines
Unit Objective: Ability to use the workup calculator to create a basic cut list and other useful workups in the Bill of Quantities. Learn to customize the calculator, use formulae and split workups.

E30.038A – Global Quantities
Unit Objective: The global quantities module is a centralized area where various selections and actions can be run across all or selected jobs. This element covers all the basics for this function.

E30.042A – BOQ Reports
Unit Objective: Ability to select and run BOQ reports.

G30.028A – Documents Module
Unit Objective: This topic will teach you how to set up your document handler and cover some of the functions within.  It will also show you how to modify your reports table to send relevant documents into their own folders to help keep your files manageable.

 

Accounting – Setup & Start-up (A1001)

This course is aimed at those who are new to Databuild, or would like to go back and solidify current knowledge from the very start. It provides a good overview of the Databuild Accounting module. Areas of focus include General Ledger setup and controls, bank setup, cost centres for accounts, quick entry of suppliers, invoicing & payments, foundation job and debtors, and a basic introduction to claims, receipts and the audit trail, journals and preparing for the opening balance procedures.

This training is available on demand online. You do not need to have a Databuild system installed to complete this course. The training takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

Accounting – Intermediate (A2001)

The aim of this one day computer based course is to provide participants the information necessary to enter daily transactions such as invoice and payments, claims and receipts.

Accounting - Set up & Start up or minimum 6 months experience is a prerequisite of this course.

Topics and exercises include: 

G20.051A – Suppliers (Basics)
Unit Objective: Learn to create new suppliers, update supplier details, input Tpar Subcontractor information, setup User Definable Fields, record notes, record Insurance details and print insurance reports.

A20.001A – Invoicing (Basics)
Unit Objective: Ability to post supplier invoices, create invoice batches and to allocate against purchase orders and enter in partial invoices using the orders batch screen.

A20.012A – Payment Introduction
Unit Objective: Learn to tag supplier invoices for payment, print remittances, part pay invoices and update payment records.

G30.019A – Payments Advanced
Unit Objective: Learn to create and use simple deductions, use of the payment search module, pre-printed cheques and ability to create EFT aba files.

G20.050A – Jobs & Debtors (Basics)
Unit Objective: Ability to create a Job and Debtor with debtor and contract information. Learn to update job details, User Definable Fields, record notes and setup the job contract information.

A30.020A – Claims (Advanced)
Unit Objective: Ability to create client claims using multiple methods.

G20.066a – Variations
Unit Objective: This unit covers a comprehensive method of creating and tracking variations to the contract.  Learn how to quote variations in the Bill of Quantities, send documentation to the client, then approve, monitor and update variations to the job costing module.

A20.013A – Receipts
Unit Objective: Learn to create receipts using different methods and the ability to identify the most suitable method to use.

A10.009A – Bank Transfers
Unit Objective: Ability to create bank transfer transactions so you can record the transfer of funds from one bank account to another.

G10.047A – RTF Layouts (Basics)
Unit Objective: Ability to create, format and save a basic RTF layout.

G10.048A – Custom Reports
Unit Objective: Ability to create, format and process a custom report using basic RTF layout.

 

Accounting – Advanced (A3001)

The aim of this one day computer based course is to provide participants the information necessary to perform advanced posting and end of period processing including Deductions, EFT payments, Claim Calculator, Bank Reconciliation & Balancing Financial reports, BAS and End of Year roll over

Accounting - Processing is a prerequisite of this course.

Topics and exercises include:

A20.065A – General Journals Stock
Unit Objective: Learn to create journals and journal batches, batch reporting and updating, and a basic introduction to the “Rules of Accounting”.

A30.023A – Claim Calculator
Unit Objective: Ability to use the claim calculator to calculate and create a client claim and combined claims using the most common methods.

A30.018A – Bank Reconciliation
Unit Objective: How to prepare and perform a balanced Bank reconciliation.

A30.022A – General Ledger Reports
Unit Objective:  Ability to print, export, reconcile GL reports, and troubleshooting.

A30.024A – Subsidiary Reports
Unit Objective:  Learn to reconcile subsidiary ledger reports, the use of the banks report and account enquiry reports. Troubleshooting is included.

A30.016A – GST Reports & Processing
Unit Objective: Demonstrate ability to navigate the GST screen, set dates, confirm reports, perform a basic reconciliation, export reports and process a GST update.

A10.010B – Audit Trail (Basics)
Unit Objective: Ability to navigate the Audit Trail screen and filter options to create reports.

A30.027A – Job Cost Reporting
Unit Objective: Let’s work through a few jobs to see how we can monitor job costs from a management perspective.

A30.025A – End of Year Roll Over
Unit Objective:  Ability to prepare for end of year rollover, backup databases, process end of year roll over and confirm opening balances.
